To help you find the right French lessons for your child, EFNY classes fall into two categories:
For bilingual children who already speak and understand French comfortably and can follow a French-only class.
Focus: reading, writing, grammar, oral expression, and thematic/cultural subjects taught entirely in French.
For children who are new to French or still building foundational language skills.
Focus: speaking, listening comprehension, vocabulary building, and confidence through interactive, playful learning.
This class is designed for bilingual children who already understand and speak French. All activities are conducted fully in French and focus on developing clear, rich, and organized oral language. Students learn to listen attentively, understand messages, and respond appropriately. They are introduced to the alphabet, early phonics, and the first steps of reading and writing in French, laying the foundation for confident literacy in both languages.
This class is designed for francophone students who already speak French comfortably and are developing (or strengthening) their reading and writing skills. All activities are conducted entirely in French. Students explore increasingly complex texts, reinforce essential grammar, spelling, and conjugation, and build strong written expression through short, structured assignments. As they progress, they learn to express their ideas with greater clarity and precision, expand their vocabulary, and gain confidence as independent readers and writers.
